God's Word

By Ruby Ramsey

One only has to read Psalm 119 to get an appreciation for the depth of God's Word.  Here are a few of them:

I will never forget Your precepts, for by them, You have given me life. (Verse 93)

Oh how I love Your law!  It is my meditation all the day.  You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies. (Verses 97-98)

Through Your precepts I get understanding; therefore, I hate every false way. (Verse 104)

Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

(Verse 105)

God's Word is full of things that:

·        Show us how to live

·        Teach us lessons

·      Tell us about God's character

·        Give us guidance

·        Give us examples

The above verses I quoted tell me that God's Word

·        Will give me life

·        Will make me wise

·        Will give me understanding

·        Will light my path to God.

God's Word is a Life Preserver

An Eternal, Spiritual Life Preserver

Without knowing God AND His Word,

We can’t know how to live to inherit eternal life.

We can't know how to please our Creator.

We can't know how to worship Him.

We can't know how to be happy, satisfied and fulfilled.

We can't know how to serve God and to serve others

Or even why we should.

God's Word is a book of love, a book of instruction (Nehemiah 8:3)

A book of Guidance (Psalm 119:133),

 A map (John 14:6),

 A light (Psalm 119:105),

 A warning (Psalm 19:9-11),

An example (II Peter 2:6; Hebrews 4:11),

 A sword (Hebrews 4:12; Ephesians 6:17),

 A seed (Matthew 3:18:23),

 A hammer (Jeremiah 23:29),

 A fire (Hebrews 12:29; Jeremiah 5:14),

And it endures forever (Psalm 119:160).

God's Word is inspired; it is God-breathed.  It is from the mind and heart of God, sent to His people.  He speaks to us through His Word.  He created us and tells us what we need to know.

 Spend time in His Word.

He's talking to you, to me.
