O LORD my God, in You I put my trust; save me from all those who persecute me; and deliver me, lest they tear me like a lion, rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver. ( Psalm 7:1-2)
David was always sure that God would deliver him from the wicked. He knew that God’s justice would prevail. When he had troubles with his enemies, he always went first to God in prayer.
How many times do we try to take things into our own hands?
Our American society says that we have certain rights. In particular, it is our job to make sure that everything is right and fair for ourselves.
This really isn’t God’s teaching. God says that we should put others first and not think of ourselves more highly than we ought. (Rom12:3)
Rom 12:2 says we are not to conform to this world. In verse 10 it says we should be affectionate to one another and to prefer one another.
If we do what is right and set an example, God will take care of us even when someone wrongs us. We do not have to try to get that person to do the right thing or to pay us back.
We should be willing to let it go and let God seek vengeance. Continuing in Rom. 12, verse 19 says ",Vengeance is mine I will repay, saith the Lord".
Verse 21 says "do not be overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good".
If we leave vengeance in God’s hands, we will live much more peacefully.
