(Part 2)
By Sandy Ditoro
The
following thoughts are taken from an article written by my
brother-in-law, Gary Pollard. They are adapted to fit the format of
our daily devotional.
Today,
we will consider three points Gary made in his article that should help
Christians with their choice for President:
Now, we will readily
admit that there are hypocrites, liars, and unethical people and
politicians in both major parties. Yet, we are forced to concede
that a political party can be no stronger ethically or morally than the
platform on which it stands.
I am not here today to
coerce you to vote for one party or candidate over another. When you
go into the voting booth, you will do so privately (only you and God will
be there), and you will vote your conscience and convictions. But
before you vote, is it not wise to look at the party platform?
Which of the two
major parties' platforms conforms more closely to what God and His Word
teaches:
-
CONCERNING THE
SACREDNESS OF HUMAN LIFE IN THE WOMB? Which of the two parties'
platforms is for abortion on demand, including partial birth abortion
(Neal Pollard's note*: I implore you, if you are not aware of it, to
inform yourself about the particulars of this gruesome, abominable
procedure). In connection with abortion, which of the two
parties' platforms advocates embryonic stem cell research?
Have you
considered God's platform? God considers the unborn child to be
fully human. See Psalm 139:13-15, Job 3:11, Jeremiah 1:5, and Luke
1:35,41. Which of the two major parties' platforms conforms more
closely to what God and His Word teaches?
Have you
considered God's platform? What does God say about marriage?
See Genesis 2:18-25, Matthew 19:1-6, and Ephesians 5:1. And, what
does God say about homosexuality? See Romans 1:18-32, 1 Corinthians
6:9-11, Galatians 5:19-21, Leviticus 20:13, and Genesis 19:4-13.
Which of the two major parties' platforms conforms more closely to what
God and His Word teaches?
Have
you considered God's platform?
Blessed
is the nation whose God is the LORD. (Psalm 33:12a)
Righteousness
exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people. (Proverbs
14:34)
Trust
the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; In
all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.
(Proverbs 3:5)
May
the hand of God guide us as we enter the voting booth on November 2nd.

is Gary's son. I read this article in Neal's Daily Bread
devotional that he sends out.)
