The Glorious Liberty of God's Children
By Ruby E. Ramsey
God delivers us from the bondage of sin when we submit ourselves in baptism. We arise as a "new man" pure and holy in God's sight. We have freedom! What glorious liberty! We no longer have the guilt of sin, the chains of bondage.
God sent Jesus to this earth to redeem us. When we obey Him, when we follow His ways, only then are we worthy to be called Children of God. Only then is He our Father. Obedience means doing what is written in His Word. We need to spend time studying God's Word so that we know, without a doubt, what He expects us to do. We must never trust men, but only the Sacred Scriptures, as the Bereans did.
"These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the with Word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so." (Acts 17:11)
This is soooooo important! We must check out everything we hear with the Bible to make sure it is so, to make sure it is what the Word of God truly says. The Word calls us to believe (Mark 16:15-16), to repent (Acts 17:30), to confess His Name before men (Romans 10:9-10). and then be baptized (immersed) for the remission of our sins (Acts 2:38), because baptism saves us (1 Peter 3:21). Only then do we obtain the precious liberty that Jesus came to give us. Only then are we Children of the majestic God.
