Full of Goodness

By Nikki Derouin

For the Word of the Lord is right, and all His works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgment; the earth is full of His goodness. (Psalms 33:4-5)

How comforting to know that the Word of God is correct, that all His works are done in a spirit of truth and light. He loves righteousness and judgment and that the earth is Full of His goodness.

As I write this article, a friend of mine is lying on a Hospital bed while they run test to confirm or to relieve his fear of having cancer.  Right now, there are those  still recovering from the massive destruction of the Tsunami. There are those still recovering from record flooding in Utah.

There are those trying to find the pieces taken away by emotional floods which consumed their lives.  As I type this, I think of all those who are troubled by this pilgrim life.  They are wondering how to truly commit to life in this world while their hearts are in Heaven.

The Word of God is right.  The promises of God’s faithfulness are not flippant comments human writers have scribbled down.  God’s Words are just that, they are from God.  His promises are true.

What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

All of God’s works are done in truth. All of God’s works are good and wholesome and for our benefit.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.  (James 1:17)

Even when we question what is going on in our lives we must remember that God has a master plan for our life.

When Joseph was sold into slavery, he probably felt a sense of loss and confusion.  Yet years later, when his brothers asked for his forgiveness, he had fully accepted God’s will for his life.  Joseph recognized God’s goodness in the midst of the pain and devastation.

But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. (Gen 50:20)

We Too Can Have This Confidence

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)

God loves those who work for Him, those who put their trust in Him, those who love Him.

Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Prov.30:5

Not only does God love us, He has also created only good things for us.

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.  And the evening and the morning were the sixth day. Genesis 1:31

Amid disease, devastation and questions, God is not only there….

                         …He is there for us.

He has given us a wonderfully beautiful world so that we will recognize His power…  He has given us His Word so that we will recognize His love.

Psalms 119 shows this in beautiful detail and I encourage you to read it through with this thought in mind.  When we recognize His power and His love, we will recognize our responsibility to Him and His provision for us.

“Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in Thy sight, O Lord, MY STRENGTH AND MY REDEEMER.”   (Psalms 19)
