Fruit Cocktail Cake

 

                                            2 C. flour (plain)                        2 eggs beaten

                                            2 t. soda                                    1 T. vanilla

                                            2 cups sugar                              1 Can fruit cocktail

                                                                            dash salt

  Mix dry ingredients.  Mix eggs and fruit cocktail, and stir in dry ingredients.  Add vanilla.  Pour batter into a greased 9x13 pan.  Bake 350 degrees for 30 minutes.  Cool in pan. 

Topping: 1 stick butter, 1 c. sugar, 1 small can evaporated milk.  Boil and stir 5 minutes.  Spread on top of cake after poking several times with toothpicks
