This is the way of those who are foolish, and of their posterity who approve their sayings………their beauty shall be consumed in the grave, far from their dwelling. (Psalm 49:13a,14d)
I am reminded of those like Marilyn Monroe and Princess Di who were so beautiful, so famous, and still so young when they died.
Like sheep they are laid in the grave; Death shall feed on them; (Ps 49:14)
In a cold dark grave far from the limelight and glory, their beautiful bodies decay and return to the dust.
We
should not feel inferior to those who are gorgeous to look at nor to those who
are rich and famous.
Do
not be afraid when one becomes rich, When the glory of his house is increased;
For when he dies he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after
him. Though while he lives he blesses himself (For men will praise you when you
do well for yourself), He shall go to the generation of his fathers; They shall
never see light. A man who is in honor, yet does not understand, Is like the
beasts that perish. (Psalm 49:16-20)
But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave, for He shall receive me. (Psalm 49:15)
A Christian should not fear the grave. We will be given a new body. We do not know what it will be like. We only know that we will be like Christ.
Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. ( 1 John 3:2)
The best part is that He will receive us! (vs.15)
Are you ready for that big, wonderful, welcome party?
