DECISIONS AND THEIR CONSEQUENCES

(Course Description)

This series of lessons is entitled "Decisions and Their Consequences” and will be an 8 lesson course, beginning with the scriptures which apply to decision making, going on to specific examples of Bible characters and present day people who made good or bad decisions, and finally ending with practical every-day instructions for our daily lives.  Our purpose is to identify choices which affect us and our family and friends now and in eternity.

We will pursue such questions as: Who will we keep as companions or friends? Who will we marry; or will we marry? What kind of work or career will we choose? Will we serve God or not?  How will my decisions early in life affect the rest of my life and how will these decisions affect my friends, family and loved ones?  What will be the consequences of these decisions now and in eternity?

Galatians 6:7 tells us, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.”  We also know that, “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil” (Eccl 8:11).  Sometimes we see younger people who think they are invincible and that nothing bad will ever happen happen to them no matter what they do.   But discerning Christians know they will eventually have to answer for their actions and that the decisions they make early in life will affect them forever.

Lessons for this class may be found at (http://www.stgcoc.com/obc_course_descriptions.htm).  My sincere hope is that this study will help us to look deeper into the guiding principles of scripture and apply God’s will to everything we do.  We will attempt to compare what often happens with what should happen in the Christian’s life.

“Wherefore hast thou despised the commandment of the LORD, to do evil in his sight?

Now therefore the sword shall never depart from thine house…

(2 Samuel 12:9-10).
