For I am jealous for you
with godly jealousy. For I have betrothed you to one husband,
that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.
But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so
your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.
For if he who comes
preaches another Jesus whom we have not preached, or if you receive a
different spirit which you have not received, or a different gospel which you
have not accepted—you may well put up with it! (2 Corinthians 11: 2-4)
In the above passage Paul
wrote to the Corinthian church and he told her that she was the
bride of Christ.
I am the bride of Rusty
Duty. When I became his wife I chose to wear his name "Duty". This
is the name our children would wear too. Names are important.
My last name says I belong to Rusty, I am his bride, his wife. I am
his.
The Church is the
Bride of Christ. Shouldn't she wear the name of her husband? Are we
a member of Christ's church? What name do we wear? Do we let
the world know we are Christ's?
Paul told the
Corinthian brethern that he was afraid they would be decieved by Satan, just
as Eve was. Christ's teachings are not hard or confusing. The
path of salvation is not mysterious. Paul said that His
teachings are simple. Satan and his followers have corrupted the Truth!
We also see by the above verse that if someone teaches things other than what
the scriptures teach he is the advocate of Satan.
Are you seaching to
know if what you believe or have been told is truth? (Acts
17:11)
We must not give up
on those who are following the path leading to destruction (Matthew
7 :13-14).
So many who are on this path get upset, angry, hateful... when we show them
truth in the scriptures. It is hard for the one who try to teach
someone in error. We must remember that it is also hard for the one in
error to accept the truth. We must love them even though they love
us less.
And I will very gladly
spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the
less I am loved.
(2
Corinthians 12:15)
Paul said:
"Imitate
me, just as I also imitate Christ." (1
Corinthians 11:1)
In 2
Corinthians12:18 Paul asked the brethren:
"I
urged Titus, and sent our brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of
you? Did we not walk in the same spirit? Did we not walk in the
same steps? "
Are we walking in the same
steps Paul walked in as he was imitating Christ?
Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the
faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in
you?—unless indeed you are disqualified. (2
Corinthians 13:5)
