Birth

Just a few weeks ago, I had the privilege of witnessing the birth of my first grandchild.  As I watched the nurses and doctor bustling about afterwards, I thought back over the birth of his mother some 24 ½ years earlier.  I remembered the confusing jumble of emotions:  love, joy, and even a little fear over the prospect of the responsibility I had just taken on.  I saw these same emotions playing out in the faces of my daughter and so-in-law.  God has given parents the distinct responsibility of raising their children.    We have many voices these days telling us how to raise children, experts write books, air talk shows and even the inexperienced celebrities want to give their advice.  But the timeless word of God has stood the test.  It is wise to look to the One who made us for the best advice. ~ Denise Chaffin (OBC Ladies Daily Devotional Staff Writer IM’s www.stgcoc.com  “ Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”(Proverbs 22:6)
