Part 5

7-2004
Good Morning Sandy,
We are leaving Friday for a church campaign trip to Cleveland, Georgia. We will knock doors during the day and conduct a VBS for the congregation at night. I am really looking forward to this trip.

I used to travel on campaign trips with my grandfather when I was a teenager. He has been gone for 9 years. I feel like I am finally getting to "pass the torch" to my children! I have wanted to go for several years but it always fell the first week of school!

Guess what!! School started this week and instead of working for hours getting ready - I have been home canning foods from my garden and enjoying my family. AND I get to go on the campaign I have been yearning for!! I have such an indescribable peace about being home. Have a wonderful week moving into your new home! I will save my lessons and e-mail them after August 4.

Hi Sandy,
I was so glad to receive your e-mail today. I had not sent a message because I thought you were off line! Our trip was wonderful. We took about 40 people ranging in age from 9 (Emma) to 84 years old. We knocked on 1200 doors in the course of three days. I was very shocked to realize how many people do not know the Bible and do not want to know! We had a huge success with our Vacation Bible School! Last year's average was around 70. We topped 100 several nights!

The congregation is very small and only three families, including the preacher, participated in our efforts. It was hard leaving these children and knowing there were not enough church members to care for them and see that they had transportation to attend. We took our church bus with us to provide transportation for the area children. He filled it beyond capacity each night and we ended up with several other vehicles going out to pick up children as well. These children were seeking and desired to know a "better way". I am already looking forward to our trip back next year!

It was also a wonderful opportunity to grow closer to our own members. Many new friendships were forged as well as old friendships deepened. An absolutely wonderful trip!!!

I signed up for my new classes this fall. I am really excited about your class on Women and the Home. I told all the women at my Home School meeting tonight to sign up for a wonderful Bible Study! I am not attempting to sign up Anderson this time. It was just a little more than he was ready for. We are taking him to the Nashville School of Preaching this fall with another Home school family. He will be learning Spanish in light of the mission work, world religions, and questions that non-Christians ask. Glen has agreed to take him, this is a BIG step in the Dodd house!

I pray your week will grow more peaceful and you will soon be in that new home! Look forward to hearing from you soon!

Good Morning Sandy,
You asked how Glen and Anderson were liking the Nashville School of Preaching.  It has been a wonderful blessing for all of us.  Glen is taking the Fishers of Men class which requires one hour of study time each day!! He has been so faithful to complete the assignments.  I am proud of him because studying is not easy for him.  He has never had a good Bible study routine.  What an example he is setting for his children!!  Anderson LOVES it!!  We go as a family on Monday nights.  He met a preacher there who lives just a few miles from us, so he and his friend are going back on Tuesday nights with this young preacher.  One of the classes he is taking on Tuesday nights is called "The Work of The Preacher is Working".  It has triggered a little spark of interest in the field of preaching!!  I hope it continues.
Thanks for asking about my family.

Sisters in Christ,

Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies.....Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, And on her tongue is the law of kindness.

She watches over the ways of her household, And does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Her husband also, and he praises her: “ Many daughters have done well, But you excel them all.”

Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, But a woman who fears the LORD, she shall be praised.  Give her of the fruit of her hands, And let her own works praise her in the gates. (Prov.31: 10;25-30)

...Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.  (2 Pet.3:18)
