An All Volunteer Army

By Sandy Ditoro

The United States military is made up of volunteers.  Our citizens are not forced to serve in our armed services if they do not desire to do so.  However new recruits understand that enlistment means they will no longer decide for themselves where they will go or what they will do.

God, the Father, promised His Son that He would make His enemies His footstool and that He would send forth a volunteer army to complete this mission.  Christians are the volunteer army the Father promised to give to His Son.

The LORD said to my Lord, "Sit at My right hand, Till I make Your enemies Your footstool." The LORD shall send the rod of Your strength out of Zion. Rule in the midst of Your enemies!
Your people shall be volunteers in the day of Your power…    (Psalm 110:1-3a)

You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please Him who enlisted him as a soldier. (2 Timothy 2:3-4)

Are you a volunteer in the Master’s army? Are you willing to go where He wants you to go and to do what He wants you to do? Are you willing to destroy His enemies with the Sword of the Spirit?  Will you help the Father give the victory to His Son?

If so then you must:

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:11-17)

Let's go and win the victory!
