WORD STUDY: Know

1. Using a Stong’s Exhaustive Concordance, count how many times the word knew, know, knowest or knowing appears in the Bible.

2. Give the Greek word(s) for know and write its definition.

We learned last week that God is an all knowing God. He also wants us to know Him. That is why He gave us the Bible. This week we are going to learn that God is eternal, unchanging, and loving.

GOD IS ETERNAL:

3. Using a concordance, look up the word eternal. What is the Greek word for eternal? What is the definition given?

4. The _________________ God is your refuge, and underneath are the

____________________ arms. Deuteronomy 33:27a

5. For since the creation of the world, His ____________________

____________________ are clearly seen, being understood by the things that

are made, even His ____________________ power and Godhead, so that

they are without excuse. Romans 1:20

7. “I am the ____________________ and the ____________________, the

___________________ and the ___________________,” says the Lord,

“who ____________________ and who ____________________ and who

is to ____________________, the Almighty.

8. When we obey God’s Word, we also are given the gift of eternal life. Look up and write three passages which make this promise to us.

GOD IS UNCHANGEABLE:

As we remain on this earth, nothing ever stays the same. Even the great stone pyramids and castles have decayed and changed over time. Our bodies change continually through the lifespan of man and our ways are never the same! Just look at laws that were created 100 years ago! Some of them seem so funny and ridiculous to us now. Yet God’s Word has not changed or been outdated in thousands of years! Our Lord will be faithful to the end of times.

9. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is NO ____________________ or ___________________ of ____________________. James 1:17

10. But He, because He continues ____________________, has an ____________________ priesthood. Therefore He is also able to ____________________ to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He ____________________ lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:24-25

11. “Therefore ____________________ that the Lord your God, He is ____________________, the ____________________ God who keeps ____________________ and mercy for a ____________________ ____________________ with those who love Him and deep His commandments. Deuteronomy 7:9

12. God is ____________________, by whom you were called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord. I Corinthians 1:9

GOD IS LOVING:

There is no greater earthly love than a parent for their child. Throughout scripture God is referred to as our Heavenly Father. This denotes a compassionate, deep love for His children. We will look briefly at His love here because I have reserved one entire lesson on His love for us later in this study.

13. Beloved, let us ____________________ one another, for ____________________ is of God; and everyone who _________________ is born of God and knows God. He who does ____________________ ____________________does not know God, for __________________ is ____________________. In this the ____________________ of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is ____________________, not that we __________________ God, but that He ____________________ us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so ____________________ us, we also out to ____________________ one another. I John 4:7-10

LESSON IN ACTION

14. Write an essay “God is…” I want this to be in your own words and reflect your personal thoughts of God. Please back up your thoughts with scripture.
