A Tribute To Sue Driver

By Sandy Ditoro

Red Flowers

We mourn the passing of a faithful Bible student and a dear friend from our devotional list, Sue Driver. I enjoyed having Sue in my class and I will miss her very much.  I just received an email from her daughter, Jodi, informing me of Sue's death.  She told me how much Sue had enjoyed taking the online Bible classes and how that she, Jodi, had helped her Mom to fill in the answers to send them in.  Here is part of the message Jodi sent about her Mother:

I must let you know that on Feb. 24, 2006, my Mother lost her battle with Cancer and Multiple Sclorosis. She passed away in her sleep in the middle of the night. She is no longer in pain and is a much better place than the rest of us.

Below is an essay written by Sue for our Fruit of the Spirit 2 class:

Be Kind To One Another

By Sue Driver

My husband grew up in a large family and his mother taught her children to do for others, to help when needed, and to expect nothing in return. As a result, I see my husband cutting a neighbor's lawn week after week because the neighbor is in his 90's. He was happy to also cut our other neighbor's lawn when he had knee surgery. No one asked him to do these things, but he saw a need and did it.

When some of my lady friends needed help putting things away for Winter, or getting them back out for Summer, He was right there to help them never expecting anything in return. When I'd say "Thank you for helping them", He'd reply, " My mom always said, "Do unto others as you would have them do to you" That is all I am doing. This is as Matt. 7:12 tells us " Therefore whatever you want man to do to you, do also to them, this is the Law of the Prophets."

Every time I hear him say this I think about our Children and Grandchildren, will they, as they get older remember some of the words we spoke?  What a comforting thought! Will they do as they have seen us do? Hopefully they'll choose the good -- this is how our World is taught.

"BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER"  -- Ephesions 4:32

Note from Sandy:  Yes, this is the way our World is taught.  I am confident Sue's Children and Grandchildren learned many valuable lessons from  their  Grandparents. I know they will have many wonderful memories to treasure for the rest of their lives.  Now, all of us will have a lesson from her to treasure and to remember about "kindness" as well as a lesson of how our Words do live on after we are gone.
