The Glass Ceiling Of Righteousness
By Sandy Ditoro
Blessed are those who keep justice, and he who does righteousness at all times! (Psalm 106:3)
Are you pressing toward the goal of the upward call of God or are you pressing toward the glass ceiling of righteousness established by your brethren? We all know that it is there. There is a certain level of righteousness that is expected of us by our brethren. There is also a certain level of righteousness that we are expected to not go beyond. This is “the glass ceiling of righteousness”.
It is okay for us to reach this level of righteousness but it is not okay with many of our brethren for us to go beyond it. God’s righteousness is beyond this level. Our brethren teach about God’s level of righteousness, but we understand through peer pressure within the church that we are not expected to reach that goal. It is too high. Attaining it or even pressing toward it beyond a certain level of accepted righteousness, makes others feel uncomfortable. If you persist in working for it you may find yourself very lonely.
Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it. (Matt.7:13-14) "Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'
"Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock.
"But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall." (Matt.7:21-27)
Those whose every action is guided by God’s standard of righteousness are the ones who are building on that rock. A person who builds on that rock for a lifetime will have a house that will never fall.
A person who builds on the “glass ceiling of righteousness”, a person who weighs all his decisions by what his brethren are doing and not always by God’s word, is a foolish man who builds his house on sand. That house will collapse!
I pray that you will build your house on God’s standard of righteousness!
Blessed are those who keep justice, and he who does righteousness at all times! (Psalm 106:3)............Article 208............
