The word witchcraft or sorcery meant “to whisper or to cast a spell. In the New Testament the Greek word “pharmakeus” refers to a drug, i.e. spell-giving potion); a druggist ("pharmacist") or poisoner, i.e. (by extension) a magician:
 
From this we can understand that the use of drugs for the purpose of causing delusion is sinful. We are not speaking of the medicinal use of drugs, but the use of drugs to make things appear not to be as they really are, especially when we consider the vast drug abuse problem that exists in our culture today.
