from Genesis 33

 

1. With what was Esau coming toward Jacob (from chapter 32)?

Ans.: 400 men. 

2. Also, from the lesson in chapter 32, tell again what Jacob sent on ahead to Esau.

Ans.: Two hundred female goats and twenty male goats, two hundred ewes and twenty rams,  thirty milk camels with their colts, forty cows and ten bulls, twenty female donkeys and ten foals (Gen 32:14-15).

3. How did Jacob approach his brother?

Ans.: He bowed himself seven times until he came to his brother.

4. Can you not just hear Jacob's heart pounding as Esau "ran to meet him"? What did Esau do when he reached Jacob?

Ans.: He embraced him, fell on his neck, kissed him and they wept. (whew!)

5. When Esau asked Jacob the reason for all the drove that he met, what was Jacob's reply?

Ans.: "...These are to find grace in the sight of my lord."

6. To where did Esau return?

Ans.: Seir.

7. Where did Jacob go?

Ans.: Shechem in Canaan.

8. From whom did Jacob buy a field?

Ans.: From the children of Hamor, Shechem's father, for one hundred pieces of money.
