OBC LADIES 4-23-08 BE OF THE
SAME MIND
By Vickie
Oliver
"Be of the
same mind toward one another. Do not set your mind on high things, but associate
with the humble. Do not be wise in your own opinion." (Romans 12:16)
It is
of the utmost importance that we all work together for the Lord. All we have to
do is look around and see what happens when we let our opinion take over, and we
stop following Jesus' word. He will guide you in all things if you let HIM. It
is wiser to follow the Lord than yourself. Stand strong in the Lord.
I
found seven other scriptures telling us to be of the same mind. Let us read
them:
1
Corinthians 1:10 [KJV] "Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord
Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions
among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the
same judgment."
2
Corinthians 8:19 [KJV] "And not that only, but who was also chosen of the
churches to travel with us with this grace, which is administered by us to the
glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your ready mind:"
Colossians 1:21-23 [KJV] "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in
your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled. 22 In the body of his
flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in
his sight: 23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved
away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to
every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister."
Philippians 3:16 [KJV] "Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us
walk by the same rule; let us mind the same thing."
Philippians 4:2 [KJV] "I beseech Euodias, and beseech Syntyche, that they be
of the same mind in the Lord."
1
Peter 4:1 [KJV] "Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm
yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh
hath ceased from sin;"
We
can see the importance for being of the same mind when we are playing on a team,
in our marriage and in business. Why do we have such a hard time being of the
same mind when it comes to our relationship with one another in the body of
Christ, when we have such a great example in Jesus' thinking, actions and words?
Let
us look at the qualities that Christ brings into the state of mind, where we
understand the equality of believers in the body of Christ that claims Jesus as
its head.
Please read
Philippians 2:1-16.
