Gods Good Creation
Lesson 9
igelkottSixth Day of Creation, Part 2brown-horse5

This week we'll be studying the second half of day 6.  Open your Bibles to Genesis 1:26-31.

Genesis 1:26-31 "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.  And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.  And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.  And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.  And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."

Whew!  Another big section!  Let's look at it closely now. In verses 26 and 27 we learn two things:  God made man in His own image.  Wow!  God made us like Him!  One of the ways He made us like Him is that our soul will live on forever.  The other thing we learn from these verses is that God gave man and woman dominion over ALL things.

The dictionary says that dominion is: "Control or the exercise of control."  So, God made Adam and Eve to be smarter than the fish of the sea, birds of the air, cattle and every creeping thing!

The next two verses say that God blessed them.  He told them to multiply (have children), to subdue the earth (dominate or control it as well), and to control the animals.

In verses 29 and 30, God told Adam and Eve that all things were created for them.  He gave the plants for food for us and the animals.  Verse 31 says that God again looked at His creation and called it, "Good."

THINK ABOUT THIS!

Again, on Day 6, God shows He knows what we need.  He had already made the plants on day 3.  He knew we would need the plants for food.  Make a list of everything God made that we needed.

God was getting the world ready for the best and final creation, a man and his wife!

Adam and Eve were the first family.  Later in Genesis, we learn about their children.  God blessed you with a family who loves you.  Take time this week to give them an extra hug, or a special drawing made just for them.  For family that is out of town, ask your mom or dad to help you mail something to them.  Let them know that they are one of God's blessings to you and that you love them!

Memory verse for the week:
Genesis 1:31"And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day."
Next week: Day 7 and review of God's Good Creation!
