God's Sons and Daughters

"I will be a Father to you, and you shall be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty." (II Corinthians 6:18)

I do not believe there is any greater earthly love than a parent for his/her child. We watch over them and provide for them. We spend countless hours praying for their safety and their souls. We want only what is the best for our children. How much greater love can our heavenly Father bestow upon us! What a privilege we have to call him our Father.

God, our Father, is pleading with us to separate ourselves from those who are unbelievers and "be not unequally yoked". (II Corinthians 6:14a ASV)

"Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God." (II Corinthians 6:14-16a)

Our lives should be lived in such a way that others KNOW we are Christians. ("any who were of the Way" (Acts 9:2b)
We belong to God our Father. Are we separating ourselves from television programs, music and other forms of entertainment that are less than desirable; or are we yoked with the unbeliever? Are we dressing in a manner that separates us from the unbeliever? Are we speaking in a way that is uplifting and glorifies our heavenly Father, or are we allowing slang and off color words to filter into our lives?

God has given us the power of choice. We may choose to be led by the Spirit of God…. "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." (Romans 8:14) (We are led by the Spirit of God when we follow the teachings that the Holy Spirit gave to the Apostles.)

Or we can choose to be the sons and daughters of Satan….

"You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it." (John 8:44)

I encourage each of us to live our lives among the blessings bestowed upon us because we are the daughters of the King!

QUESTIONS

Ans.:  God; people; Come out; be separate; unclean; Father; My sons; daughters.

2.  What does God consider unclean?

Ans.:  not cleansed, unclean

  1. in a ceremonial sense: that which must be abstained from according to the levitical law
  2. in a moral sense: unclean in thought and life
Sin is unclean.
Romans 1:18-32
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, 19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. 20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, 21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Professing to be wise, they became fools, 23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man—and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting; 29 being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness; they are whisperers, 30 backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful; 32 who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them.
 
It is a work of the flesh.
Galatians 5:19
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness.
 
3.  Who does God want His children to separate from?
 
Ans.:  unbelievers  II Corinthians 6:14-16a.
 
4.  A child of God's life should refelct to the world what? 
 
Ans.:  That they are a Christian (of the Way [Acts 9:2]).
 
5.  What are some ways one separates themselves from the unbelieving?
 
Ans.:  They do not wear the immodest clothing that we see many wear today.  They do not watch flithy tv shows or movies.  They do not talk filthy talk; tell dirty jokes or set and listen to such.  They do not lie, they speak the truth at all times. 
 
6.  We have all been given a choice.  What are the choices we have?
 
Ans.:  We either follow God or we follow Satan.
 
7.  How do we follow God?
 
Ans.:  By being led by the Spirit of God  (Romans 8:14).
 
8.  How do we allow ourselves to be led by the Spirit of God?
 
Ans.:  We read, study and live the teachings given to us by the Apostles through the Holy Spirit.
 
9.  If we are not following God then we are following Satan, and he is our _______?
 
Ans.:  Father (John 8:44).
 
10.  For what fellowship has righteousness with ______? And what communion has light with _______?
 
Ans.:  lawlessness; darkness.
 
What is lawlessness and darkness referring to?
 
Ans.:  Sin.
