God's Children Imitate Their Father
Robin Burroughs
Our Heavenly Father expects us to imitate Him. We do that by following the example that He gives in His Word. Not only are we to follow Him but we are to do it with the right attitude; as dear children. Dear children seek to do like their father.
And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savour. (Ephesians 5:2 KJV)
Our heavenly Father tells us exactly how we are to follow His example and that is first by walking in love. The type of love that Christ has for us is Agape love. It is the type of love that is deep, sacrificial, and active. It is reflected in what we do. It is reflected in how we walk. Christ describes this kind of love in Luke 6 :27-37. We are to love our enemies, do good to them that do bad to us, bless them that curse us, give to every man that ask of you and to turn the other cheek. Please take the time to read these scriptures and mediate on them. This is not an exhaustive study on Agape love by any means. God gives many more examples for us to apply and follow. When we walk in Agape love, it is a sacrifice to God for a sweet smelling savor.
I pray that, as Christian women, we will all desire to walk in love as Christ did and to seek our heavenly Father as dear children. What a difference we can make in our homes as well as in our communities.
