Children of God through Faith

This is a very comforting statement. To know that we are sons/daughters of God is indeed a blessing. Would it be comforting if one did not have faith that Jesus Christ is the Son of God? I think not.

How does one have faith in Jesus Christ?

"Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Romans 10:17b) Paul told the Ephesians that there is "one Lord, one faith, one baptism;" (Ephesians 4:5) Our faith that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, prompts us to be baptized into Christ. "For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ." (Galalatians 3:27) This act makes us sons of God.

Our faith is the victory that overcomes the world. The genuineness of our faith is more precious than gold. Faith by itself,  without works, is a dead faith. Our faith is sanctified through Christ. The end of our faith is salvation of our souls.  (1 John 5:4; 1 Peter 1:7; James 2:17; Acts 26:18; 1 Peter 1:9)

There is a promise found in Revelation 21:7.

"He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son."  If we withstand the fiery darts of the evil one with our shield of faith, we will overcome and inherit eternal life.  (Ephesians 6:10-19)
